Call for Papers: International Conference “Russia and ASEAN in the Asia-Pacific Region: Dynamics of Cooperation, Regional Processes, and Global Context”
In October 2023 the ASEAN Centre will hold its traditional annual international conference “Russia and ASEAN in the Asia-Pacific Region: Dynamics of Cooperation, Regional Processes, and Global Context” It will take place within the framework of the 15th Convention of the Russian International Studies Association (RISA).
What will the conference be about?
This year the conference will be dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership. It aims to discuss multiple issues relevant to the ASEAN-Russia political and economic cooperation in the context of global turbulence and identify new promising areas for ASEAN-Russia strategic partnership. Interregional cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Cooperation, Shanghai Cooperation Organization and ASEAN will be among conference topics. Beyond that, we welcome submissions touching upon digital agenda and post-pandemic economic recovery in Russia and Southeast Asia. Papers and presentations on the key trends in the political and socio-economic development of individual ASEAN members, and significant regional developments are also welcome.
The conference program will include special thematic sessions and presentation of new literatureon Southeast Asia.
A Youth Dayis scheduled as part of the conference. Students and young researchers whose research interests lay in the field of Southeast Asian studies are welcome to apply.
What is the participation format?
Working languages: Russian and English.
Participation format: offline and online.
Papers with the limit of two speakers are also welcome.

To participate in the conference as a speaker please follow steps below

Second step: please submit an abstract to the following email: asean@inno.mgimo.ru
Deadline for the applications and registration for speakers: September 15, 2023.
What are the abstract´s guidelines?
The title of your email should be: RISA Application 2023: Speaker’s Name and Surname
Аbstracts for the conference submission consist of the following sections (please doublecheck before submission): title, information about the author, abstract with a clearly formulated research problem that the author plans to analyze at the conference (up to 300 words in total) and the keywords (up to 6).
Please submit abstracts in Word format.
How to check your application status?
A notification of accepted applications will be sent to your email box.
The organizing committee has a right to reject an application if it does not follow the abstract’s guidelines or does not correspond to the conference’s agenda.
I just want to listen to the speakers, what should I do?
A registration form for the audience members will be open later. Please check the ASEAN Centre’s website and social pages.
