“South Asian Politics and Economy in the Context of International Turbulence: Opportunities for Russia”

The Centre for South Asian Studies of the MGIMO Institute for International Studies is organising a section “South Asian Politics and Economy in the Context of International Turbulence: Opportunities for Russia” within the framework of 15th Convention of the Russian International Studies Association which will take place in MGIMO University on October 12-14, 2023.

We invite for participation specialists in South Asia and other experts whose research field overlaps with the programme of the conference.

The agenda is the following:

• Current issues of Russia's relations with the countries of South Asia;
• Economic cooperation under sanctions pressure;
• Cooperation in multilateral formats (SCO, BRICS);
• Major trends in political and socio-economic development of individual South Asian countries.

Working languages: Russian and English.

Form of participation: presentation (10-15 minutes), offline or online. PowerPoint presentations are welcome.

All participants are supposed to register for RIAS convention, choosing option 3 «Regional aspects of international relations» in the «sections» field.

We also ask to fill in the section registration form until September 28, 2023. Please, submit your abstracts until October 5, 2023 to the email address: south_asia@inno.mgimo.ru.

The section is organised within the framework of the Priority 2030 strategic academic leadership program.
